Fishing For Success at Island Rooms of Petty Harbour

Saturday and Sunday 1pm to 4pm

10D Main Road, Petty Harbour

Island Rooms of Petty Harbour is a place that was once the fishing premise for about 10 families. Now it is the home of the non-profit Fishing For Success that aims to LIVE, SHARE & CELEBRATE the traditional knowledge & skill of Newfoundland & Labrador's fishing heritage! Come be a part of saving a heritage fishing stage! Or wander into Ned's Stage, and learn how to make salt fish. Grab a yaffle and help prepare fish for the Winter. Drop by, they’ll put the kettle on.

Activities: Demonstrations of traditional fishing and stage building skills - splitting fish, making salt fish, spreading a yaffle, rope weaving and stick rinding throughout both days from 1-4pm.

Notice: Sensible shoes for walking outdoors should be worn.
